Prof. Martin Weides

Professor and Chair of Quantum Technologies (Electronic & Nanoscale Engineering)

Director (James Watt Nanofabrication Centre)

Dr Martin Weides is a Professor of Quantum Technologies at the University of Glasgow, where he serves as Director of the James Watt Nanofabrication Centre and leads the Quantum Circuits group. An expert in experimental solid-state physics at the interface with material science, his research focuses on coherent nanoelectronics, quantum spintronics, and quantum computing with superconducting circuits. After receiving his PhD from the University of Cologne, he held postdoctoral positions at NIST and UCSB before joining Glasgow in 2018. A recipient of grants from the ERC and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Dr Weides is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics, serves on the editorial board of Applied Physics Letters, and has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers.

Prof. Hiu Yung Wong

Professor of Electrical Engineering at San Jose State University

Silicon Valley AMDT Endowed Chair in Electrical Engineering

Hiu Yung Wong is a Professor at San Jose State University, bringing over 12 years of industry experience from Synopsys and Spansion to his academic role. A Ph.D. graduate from UC Berkeley, his work on quantum computing, machine learning, and device simulation has earned him major awards, including the NSF CAREER award (2021) and the AMDT Endowed Chair (2022). In addition to his research and authoring two books, he is a founding member of SJSU's M.S. in Quantum Technology program and actively serves the scientific community as Chair of the IEEE EDS-SCV and for international conferences like SISPAD.

Dr. Abuzer Yakaryilmaz

Assistant Professor at the University of Latvia

Co-Founder of QWorld Association (QWorld)

Dr Abuzer Yakaryilmaz is an Assistant Professor and researcher at the University of Latvia, having received his PhD from Bogazici University in 2011. Following postdoctoral work in Latvia and Brazil, his research now combines quantum automata and complexity theory with a strong focus on quantum technology education and popularisation. He is the founder of QWorld, a global non-profit association dedicated to training the next generation of quantum scientists through education and skill development. Since 2018, he has focused significantly on the popularisation of quantum technologies, designing and leading multiple international educational projects, including the European "Quantum Drive" tour.

IBM Senior AI Architect

IBM Quantum Ambassador

Sasha Lazarevic is a technology leader at IBM with over 23 years of experience, currently serving as a Watsonx Data and AI Architect. He is also a long-standing IBM Quantum Ambassador and Qiskit Advocate, specialising in quantum algorithms, quantum machine learning, and quantum finance. His deep expertise in AI, data science, and cloud computing is built upon previous senior roles in technical solution management and project management. Mr Lazarevic holds an MSc in Management of Information Systems from the University of Belgrade, an MBA from Business School Lausanne, and an AI Graduate Certificate from Stanford University.

Jim McKay is a Solution Architect at IBM Cloud with over 24 years of experience at the company. He is a subject matter expert in cloud computing, specialising in designing innovative solutions for high-priority global clients and translating complex enterprise architectures to the cloud while meeting security and regulatory requirements.
